There are 3,500 calories in one pound of fat. Thus, if you cut back or work off just 3,500 calories, you will lose an entire pound of fat. While it is possible to cut back on your calorie intake and increase your exercise regimen in order to lose pounds quickly, it is important to note that doctors recommend that you lose no more than 2 pounds of weight per week in order to ensure that your body properly adjusts to the weight loss. Here are some tips to help you safely drop 3,500 calories from your regular routine.

The average person will use approximately 100 calories for every mile they walk or jog. It is important to remember that the duration or pace at which you move matters far less than the distance you cover. Whether you walk a mile in 25 minutes or jog a mile in seven minutes, your body requires about the same amount of energy and will burn about the same amount of calories. What is important to note, however, is that there is an extended calorie burn that happens after you have worked out. The duration of this extended burn does relate to the intensity of your workout. This means that as you rest and your body recuperates, it continues to burn calories. The optimum cardio workout is what is called a HIIT or high intensity interval training. In such a program, you push yourself to 80 percent of your maximum for a set period of time, generally thirty seconds, followed by a less intense period of about sixty seconds where your intensity should be about fifty percent. As your body burns calories you will experience an increased appetite. You must be aware of this and not consume the calories you are burning. This will quickly lead to frustration as you do not make gains with your weight loss. Eating whole, unprocessed foods will help your body to properly fuel itself.

Intense cardio workouts helps your metabolism and works muscles so they become stronger. It assists in the long term burning of calories as your body uses the energy to move your body and repair the muscle tissue. A great post-workout meal is a large, green salad. Avoid the temptation to knock out a bag of chips or a chocolate bar.

Dining out is very dangerous when you are trying to cut calories from your diet. Very often we tend to overeat as the portions are commonly well over a serving size. Additionally, you lose control over the quality of the foods you are eating. It is all too common that the foods we eat at restaurants are processed and high in bad fats. The result could be that you consume a thousand calories or more in one meal than you otherwise would have. That is equal to ten miles for the average person. You must be mindful of the amounts and types of foods you are consuming. This is especially important as you are starting out.

Dining out is more of a social event than a necessary fuel function. As we chat and eat, we are unaware of just how much we are consuming. Once the meal is done, we “take a peak” at the dessert menu and end up eating way more calories than we ever should. Your meal choices should extend from your home to any restaurant you go to. Opt for low fat meats and salads. Remember to use vinegar and oil on your salads instead of processed, high fat dressings. The results you will experience will remind you of the good decisions you are making.

With regular exercise and a mindful diet, you will be able to easily cut those extra 3,500 calories out of your diet. If you are motivated and commit yourself to the process, you are sure to find that it is easier and much more enjoyable then you thought. You look better in that swimsuit ta boot!
